Use this timeline to achieve your best tan ever! 🙌
Day Before:
- Shave or wax (if part of your routine) to remove unwanted body hair.
- Moisturize before bed.
Morning of:
- Shower as normal then exfoliate entire body with an oil-free exfoliant, scrub sponge or exfoliation mitt. Remove callouses from feet if possible (return your skin to the cleanest state).
- Wear dark undergarments, swimsuit of your Birthday suit for spraying 😉 and loose clothing to wear home.
At your Appointment:
- Hair needs to be pulled up and remove any jewelry.
- Relax and have FUN!
After your Appointment, before Rinse:
- Avoid anything for the rest of the day that will get your spray tan wet (exercising, swimming, doing the dishes, cuddle parties etc.)
- DO NOT apply moisturizers, perfume, cologne, deodorant etc.
- DO NOT keep touching your skin to check your tan as it will transfer to your palms.
- DO NOT cross your legs if they are exposed.
Rinse:
- USE WATER ONLY for your 1st rinse after the set rinse time (~4-6hrs), using soft circular motions with your hands (no loofahs, scrubbers etc.)
- PAT DRY ONLY
- DO NOT use soaps or shampoos on initial rinse.
After your Rinse:
- Maintain your spray tan with a safe moisturizer or tan extending lotion
- Mineral oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter and lotions containing glycerin, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and aloe vera are recommended.
- Apply additional moisturizer after anything that will dry out your skin (working out, ocean water, chlorine pools, hot tubs, sweating etc.)
- Moisture is the KEY to your lasting tan.
Other things to Consider:
- If you have shower gels specifically for body acne they will generally contain salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Both of these will wear away at the tan and it wont last nearly as long. Please avoid using this type of product before and after your tan. Hyaluronic acid however, is fine.
- Bar soaps can be generally drying and while they are good for before your tan, definitely avoid them while you have the tan. You only want to exfoliate before your spray tan for best results, so avoid it afterwards until you’re ready to scrub it all off.
